Kylee Bassett Hope graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education - Mild Interventions and holds a teaching license in Indiana in Special Education. Ms. Hope also earned a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis with a focus in special education law. Currently, Ms. Hope serves as the Special Education Specialist at the Christian Sarkine Autism Treatment Center (CSATC) at Riley Hospital for Children. She provides training and consultation services regarding special education laws and evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for students on the autism spectrum related developmental disabilities. Prior to her current position, Ms. Hope worked as the Due Process Coordinator for the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), Office of Special Education. At the IDOE, Ms. Hope’s primary responsibilities focused on legal compliance issues associated with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA ’04) and Indiana’s schools. In addition, she has trained law enforcement, including student resource officers, in the area of autism. Ms. Hope has provided numerous trainings on discipline and students with special needs, individualized education programs, advocacy/collaboration tips for parents and school personnel, and legal compliance with IDEA ’04 to parents and educators. Ms. Hope also serves on several autism-related committees. Ms. Hope also has a brother with autism, which has provided her with a unique perspective and invaluable experience in assisting families and individuals on the autism spectrum.
